Privacy Policy

Moodbase is a Chrome extension that saves images to a library inside your own browser. This policy explains, in plain terms, what leaves your machine and what does not.

The short version: your library stays in your browser, we never receive a copy of it, we don't have access to your library, and we don't maintain a server-side copy of it.

1. What stays on your device

Everything that makes up your library is stored in your browser's own IndexedDB database, on your computer:

• The image files you save, and their thumbnails
• Captions, tags, collections, colours and every other field
• Source URLs, posted dates and author handles captured when you save
• Your settings, including grid layout, shortcuts and any provider API key you enter

These items are stored locally in your browser and are not uploaded to Moodbase's servers. Moodbase does not automatically back up your library to a server. If you uninstall the extension without exporting a backup, it is gone — which is why the extension nudges you to export one periodically.

2. What leaves your device, and when

AI analysis

When an image is analyzed, that single image and the analysis prompt are sent to an AI provider. Which provider depends on how you are set up:

• Using Moodbase credits — the request goes through our server, which forwards it to the provider and returns the result. We do not store the image.
• Using your own API key — the request goes from your browser straight to that provider. It never touches our infrastructure, and we cannot see it.

Providers have their own data policies. We send images with the provider's training flag disabled where that option exists, but your relationship with a provider you brought your own key for is between you and them.

Buying credits

Payments are handled by our payment provider, Creem. We receive information such as your email address, purchase details and payment status so we can issue your license and provide purchase-related support. We do not receive or store your card details.

Email

We email you a license key when you buy credits and may send a reminder before your credit pack expires. We do not send marketing email, and there is no mailing list to be added to.

3. What Moodbase does not do

• Moodbase does not sell, rent or trade any data. There is no advertising business here.
• Moodbase does not use your images to train AI models.
• Moodbase does not track your browsing activity. The extension only reads a page when you explicitly save an image from it.
• Moodbase run no analytics inside the extension — no page views, no event tracking, no session recording.

4. The website

This site is static and serves no tracking scripts or cookies. Our hosting infrastructure may retain standard server logs, such as IP address, user agent and requested path, for security and abuse prevention, retained for a short period and not linked to any purchase.

5. Permissions the extension asks for

• Storage — to keep your library in the browser's database.
• Host access on supported sites — to detect images you choose to save and provide Moodbase's save controls. Moodbase does not use this permission to continuously monitor your browsing activity.
• Downloads — only when you export a backup.

6. Your control

• Export — take a full backup of your library at any time, from Settings.
• Delete — remove any image, or wipe the whole library, from Settings. It is deleted from your device immediately; we hold no copy to delete.
• Your API key — remove it at any time; it is cleared from browser storage.
• Purchase records — email us to request deletion of the email address and license record tied to a purchase. Note that this invalidates the license key, and we may need to retain the transaction record itself to comply with applicable accounting, tax, or legal requirements.

7. Changes to this policy

When we make changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects what information leaves your device, we'll highlight that change in the changelog. Continuing to use Moodbase after a change means you accept it.
